SARAH DAYHUFF
Spanish and International Health, B.S.

About Me
My name is Sarah Dayhuff, and I am from Columbia, South Carolina. I will graduate from Clemson University in December of 2025 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Spanish and International Health. After graduation, I plan to attend graduate school to earn my master’s degree in speech-language pathology.

From an early age, I have been motivated by compassion for others and a curiosity to learn. These values guided my decision to study Spanish and International Health at Clemson, where I came to appreciate the intersection of health and language in a global context. While at Clemson, I have gained many skills that I am excited to take with me into my future.
My experiences at Clemson University and while studying abroad in Spain have strengthened my skills in areas such as active listening, adaptability, global perspective, and cross-cultural communication. Through my health coursework, I have gained a unique global health perspective and understand different healthcare systems and how various cultures approach health. Studying abroad in Spain allowed me to strengthen my ability to adapt to unfamiliar situations. Completing my internship at the Red Cross youth department in Seville allowed me to improve my cross-cultural communication by ensuring I practiced my Spanish speaking in not only everyday conversations but also in a professional setting. Lastly, both my Spanish courses and studying abroad strengthened my active listening skills, which were essential to learning a new language.

My core values align with both my academic and professional goals. I strive to be compassionate and flexible. I also value loyalty and opportunities for learning. These core values are essential to cultivate, both as a student and as a healthcare professional. As a student, it is necessary to seek out learning opportunities and remain curious about the coursework. When adapting to new situations, such as graduate school, it will be necessary to be flexible and open-minded. I will strive to keep these values at the forefront as I attend graduate school. As a speech-language pathologist, it will be essential to treat every patient with compassion in the future. In the future, I will continue to strengthen my core values and acquire new ones.

As I continue my learning journey, the lessons I have learned and the skills I have gained while pursuing my undergraduate degree will enable me to be successful. I am excited to apply all that I have learned over the past four years to my future in Speech-Language Pathology school and beyond. I plan to use these skills and values to become the best speech therapist I can be.
