Presentation on El Tiempo Entre Costuras (Time Between Stitches)
This source is a book analysis presentation for my Contemporary Spanish Literature class. The assignment involved selecting a book from a list provided by my professor and creating a comprehensive presentation. The presentation included the author’s background, a general summary of the book, key characters, an analysis of a significant paragraph, main themes, and other meaningful insights. This project was particularly valuable since it allowed me to apply the skills I developed in the literature class, such as interpreting an author’s intent and analyzing literature through historical, political, and cultural lenses. This artifact deepened my understanding of the cultural impact of the Spanish Civil War and the history of gender roles in Spain. This artifact has prepared me to engage in culturally sensitive communication by emphasizing the importance of understanding others’ cultural backgrounds. These insights are not only essential when analyzing literature but also highly relevant when addressing complex issues in the healthcare field.

Paper on La Vida Diaria Española: Ventajas y Desventajas del Horario Español
This source is a paper for my Spanish Civilization and Culture class. The assignment involved selecting a topic that influences Spanish culture, analyzing its various aspects, and comparing it to the United States. I chose to examine the Spanish daily schedule. In the paper, I explored its historical background and its positive and negative effects on productivity, social, emotional, and mental health. This paper was especially valuable since it allowed me to approach a cultural topic from multiple perspectives. I was able to acknowledge that the Spanish schedule is complex and cannot be viewed as strictly good or bad. The paper deepened my understanding of how the Spanish schedule benefits social health, fosters a strong sense of community, and encourages meaningful personal connections. I also better understand how the long workdays and split schedules in Spain can decrease productivity rates. This paper deepened my cultural awareness and highlighted the importance of analyzing topics from a balanced perspective. I will apply this approach in my future career by considering both cultural context and health impacts when evaluating issues.
