Fall 2022

Spanish 1020: Elementary Spanish

  • This course focused on the fundamentals of grammar and vocabulary. It provided me with a strong foundation to build oral and written proficiency. 

Spring 2023

Spanish 2010: Intermeditate Spanish (I)

  • This is an intermediate course to practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Grammatical structures and basic vocabulary are reviewed systematically. It includes literary and cultural perspectives. 

Fall 2023

SPAN 2020: Intermediate Spanish (II)

  • This course is a continuation of the listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills learned in Spanish 2010. 

Fall 2024

SPAN 3150: Spanish for Health Professionals

  • This course focused on medical concepts and terminology in Spanish. The course emphasized cultural competency and effective communication in healthcare settings.

Fall 2025

SPAN 4180 & SPAN 4190

SPAN 4180: Technical Spanish for Health Management Professionals

  • This course focused on industry-specific vocabulary, effective communication strategies, and cultural competencies necessary for managing healthcare organizations. It emphasized the importance of understanding and analyzing the effectiveness of global health care systems. 

SPAN 4190: Health in the Hispanic Community

  • This course focused on the challenges, disparities, and cultural factors that affect health in Hispanic communities. It emphasized the social determinants that affect the health outcomes in these populations.

Spring 2024

SPAN 3050: Intermediate Spanish Conversation and Composition I

  • This course focused on practice in spoken Spanish with an emphasis on vocabulary, pronunciation, intonation, and comprehension. It includes written work to increase accuracy.

Spring 2025

SPAN 3130 & SPAN 3070

SPAN 3130: Contemporary Spanish Literature

  • This course focused on exploring key works and authors in Spanish literature. It allowed me to engage with the themes, styles, and cultural contexts of  Spanish novels and poetry.

SPAN 3070: Spanish Civilization and Culture

  • This course focused on exploring Spain's rich history, society, cultural norms, and traditions. This course combated previous assumptions about the culture in Spain and instilled a complex understanding of the true Spanish culture.

  • This course is an examination of the forces that have influenced current health deivery systems, health practices, and trends. It provides an introduction of population and public health theories and models.

Fall 2023

HLTH 2980 & HLTH 2400

Health 2980: Human Health and Disease

  • This course serves as an overview of the behavioral, biological and psycho-social factors associated with major human diseases and conditions. It further places an emphasis on the best health practices.

Health 2400: Determinants of Health Behavior

  • This course analyzes the health behaviors based on psychological, social, cultural, and environmental factors and introduces health behavior theories.

Spring 2023

Health 2030: Overview of Health Care Systems

  • This course serves as an introduction to the American health care delivery system, including its foundation, primary characteristics, resources and processes. The course discusses topics such as fee-for-service, managed care, and integrated care organizations, as well as access, cost and quality of care.

Spring 2024

HLTH 3800 & HLTH 4310

Health 3800: Epidemiology

  • This course introduces epidemiological principles and methods used in the study of the origin, distribution, and control of disease.

Health 4310: Public and Environmental Health

  • This course discusses the principles of environmental health emphasizing understanding various health concerns created by the interactions of people with their environment. The impact of environmental factors on public health policy decisions is evaluated. 

Fall 2024

Health 3100: Women's Health Issues

  • This course involved the exploration of specific health needs of women, with an emphasis on understanding and preventing problems of women's health.

Health 4900: Research and Evaluation Strategies for Public Health

  • This course discusses research in health, particularly focusing on the analysis of reported research. Ethical, moral, and legal issues are also discussed. 

 Fall 2025

HLTH 4700: Global Health

  • This course focuses on the social, economic, political, and environmental factors that impact health worldwide. The course examined health disparities, health policies, and international health systems.
